Alexis Tadié has developed a body of research on the cultural history of sport from the eighteenth century to the present. While sport has been widely studied from historical, sociological, and physiological perspectives, his work explores the contribution of literary and cultural forms to the understanding of sporting practices, values, and representations.
He is currently involved in an international research programme on stadiums in Europe in the long twentieth century, developed in collaboration with colleagues in France and Germany. The project, Arènes, is funded jointly by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), and brings together scholars working on architecture, culture, politics, and collective memory.
